Wombaroo High Protein Supplement | 52% Protein for Sugar Gliders, Possums & Flying Foxes
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement – Nutritional Support for Native Wildlife
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement is a specially formulated nutritional powder designed to boost protein, vitamin and mineral levels in the diets of fruit, nectar and sap-eating animals, including sugar gliders, possums, flying foxes and selected fruit-eating birds.
Developed by Wombaroo, this premium supplement contains 52% protein, providing essential amino acids, fatty acids, calcium, vitamins and trace minerals to help balance diets that rely heavily on fruit and vegetables.
Commercially grown fruits such as apples and pears can be relatively low in protein and certain essential nutrients compared with the natural foods consumed by wildlife.
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement helps address these nutritional gaps when incorporated into an appropriate species-specific feeding program.
Its versatile powdered formulation can be sprinkled directly over diced fruit and vegetables or mixed with water to prepare a liquid supplement for dry and semi-moist foods.
Suitable for wildlife carers, licensed rehabilitators, zoological facilities and owners of suitable captive exotic animals.

High Protein Nutrition – 52% Protein
Protein is essential for normal growth, muscle maintenance, tissue repair and many metabolic processes.
Fruit-based diets may not provide adequate quantities of high-quality protein for some animals.
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement combines whey protein and soy protein with additional amino acids to provide a concentrated protein source.
The formula includes lysine and methionine, two amino acids important for normal protein metabolism.
Helps Balance Fruit-Based Diets
Many fruit-eating animals consume a varied natural diet that may include fruit, nectar, pollen, sap and other foods.
Commercially available fruits can differ considerably in nutritional composition from wild native fruits.
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement is designed to help improve the nutritional balance of fruit and vegetable-based captive diets by supplying:
- High-quality protein
- Essential amino acids
- Calcium and phosphorus
- Vitamins
- Trace minerals
- Essential fatty acids
The supplement should be used as part of a properly formulated diet rather than as a complete food by itself.
Calcium for Bone Development
Calcium is important for normal skeletal development, muscle function and other physiological processes.
Fruit-based diets can be relatively low in calcium.
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement supplies calcium and other minerals to complement appropriate feeding programs.
Adequate calcium nutrition is particularly important during growth and reproduction.
Omega-3 & Omega-6 Fatty Acids
The formulation contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
These essential fatty acids contribute to normal cellular function and the maintenance of healthy skin and other tissues.
They complement the product's protein, vitamin and mineral content.
Actigen® Prebiotic Support
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement contains 1g/kg Actigen® dried yeast prebiotic.
Prebiotics are ingredients used in animal nutrition to support a favourable intestinal environment.
Actigen® complements the nutritional formulation by providing additional digestive-support ingredients.
Suitable for Sugar Gliders
Sugar gliders require a carefully balanced diet containing appropriate sources of protein, calcium and other nutrients.
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement can be used to fortify the fruit and vegetable components of a suitable captive sugar glider diet.
For insect-eating species such as sugar gliders, the manufacturer also recommends including suitable insects and up to 20% prepared Wombaroo Small Carnivore Food as part of the overall feeding program.
High Protein Supplement should not be used as the sole food source.
Suitable for Possums
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement may be used in appropriate diets for possums that consume fruit and vegetables.
It supplies concentrated protein and additional nutrients that may be limited in commercially grown fruits.
The powder can be mixed directly into diced fruit or vegetables.
For possums receiving dry or semi-moist foods, the manufacturer's liquid-mix method may be used.
Different possum species have different dietary requirements, so feeding programs should be species-specific.
Suitable for Flying Foxes
Flying foxes are fruit and nectar-eating mammals with specialised nutritional requirements.
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement can be added to fresh fruit to increase dietary protein and nutrient content.
The manufacturer provides separate feeding guidelines for adult flying foxes and animals with increased nutritional requirements.
It is commonly used in specialist wildlife care and rehabilitation settings.
Suitable for Selected Fruit-Eating Birds
Wombaroo High Protein Supplement can also be incorporated into appropriate diets for some fruit-eating birds.
It provides additional protein, amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
Species-specific nutritional requirements should always be considered, particularly for birds requiring specialised iron management.
Consult an avian veterinarian or experienced wildlife nutritionist before incorporating it into a new feeding program.

The complete feeding program should reflect the species' natural dietary requirements.
Feeding Guide for Flying Foxes
Adult Flying Foxes
10g of powder per 300g of freshly cut apple per adult animal.
Pregnant, Nursing, Juvenile or Debilitated Flying Foxes
20g of powder per animal, mixed into the appropriate fruit ration.
These are the manufacturer's published feeding recommendations.
Animals undergoing rehabilitation should be fed under the guidance of an experienced wildlife carer or veterinarian.
Other Uses
Wombaroo states that High Protein Supplement can be used as a substitute for high-protein baby cereal in certain animal and bird feeding recipes.
Because of its concentrated protein content, the manufacturer recommends using half the quantity of High Protein Supplement compared with the high-protein cereal specified in those recipes.
Only use this substitution where appropriate for the species and feeding program.
