Active Ingredient – Selamectin
Neovela contains selamectin 60mg/mL, an antiparasitic ingredient belonging to the macrocyclic lactone family.
Selamectin is absorbed following topical application and provides activity against several important internal and external parasites.
This allows Neovela to provide flea treatment, heartworm prevention and control of certain intestinal worms and mites in one product.
Effective Flea Protection
Fleas are among the most common external parasites affecting cats.
Flea infestations can cause itching, scratching, skin irritation and discomfort.
Neovela helps manage flea infestations by:
- Killing adult fleas
- Controlling flea eggs and larvae in the environment
- Treating existing flea infestations
- Preventing new flea infestations with regular monthly treatment
Consistent treatment is particularly important in households with recurring flea problems.
Flea Allergy Dermatitis
Some cats develop an allergic reaction to flea saliva, known as Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).
Even a small number of flea bites may cause significant itching and irritation in sensitive cats.
Neovela is registered for the control of flea allergy dermatitis as part of a regular flea-management program.
Heartworm Prevention
Neovela prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis.
Heartworm is transmitted through mosquito bites and can affect cats as well as dogs.
Although heartworm disease is less commonly diagnosed in cats, infection can cause serious health problems.
Monthly Neovela treatment provides ongoing heartworm prevention when used according to the approved directions.
If your cat has not been receiving regular heartworm prevention, consult your veterinarian about an appropriate prevention program.
Intestinal Worm Treatment
Neovela treats and controls two important intestinal worms affecting cats.
Roundworm – Toxocara cati
Roundworms are intestinal parasites that may affect kittens and adult cats.
Neovela treats and controls susceptible roundworm infections.
Hookworm – Ancylostoma tubaeforme
Hookworms attach to the intestinal lining and feed on blood.
Neovela treats and controls susceptible intestinal hookworm infections.
Important: Neovela does not treat tapeworms. A separate tapeworm treatment may be required.
Ear Mite Treatment
Neovela treats and controls ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) in cats.
Ear mites may cause:
- Ear irritation
- Frequent head shaking
- Scratching around the ears
- Dark ear discharge
- Discomfort
If your cat continues to experience ear irritation or discharge, consult your veterinarian.
Biting Lice Treatment
Neovela also treats biting lice infestations caused by Felicola subrostratus.
Biting lice can cause itching, coat irritation and discomfort.
Treatment helps eliminate susceptible lice infestations.
