Inca Pestene Insect Powder 500g is an easy-to-use dusting powder formulated to control susceptible lice, mites and fleas on poultry, dogs, cats, horses, calves and goats.

It is especially popular with backyard chicken owners for controlling lice and mites around the vent, under the wings, around the neck and through the feathers. Pestene can also be applied to poultry nests, nesting boxes, bedding, kennels and other animal housing areas to help control parasites within the animal’s environment.

Successful parasite control often requires treatment of both the affected animal and its bedding or housing area. Apply Pestene at weekly intervals according to the product label.

Poultry and Fowls

For the control of lice and mites:

1. Sprinkle the powder through the feathers.
2. Concentrate application under the wings and around the neck, breast and vent area.
3. Gently work the powder through the feathers so it reaches the skin.
4. Apply liberally to nests, nesting boxes and nesting areas.
5. Repeat at weekly intervals according to the label.

Treating the poultry housing and replacing or treating contaminated bedding may help reduce reinfestation.

Dogs and Cats

For the control of fleas:

1. Apply the powder to the coat, concentrating around the neck, chest and back.
2. Work the powder against the direction of the hair so it reaches the skin.
3. Comb the powder through the coat.
4. Remove excess powder using a damp cloth.
5. Apply at weekly intervals and after washing, as directed on the label.
6. Treat bedding, kennels and sleeping areas as part of the flea-control program.

Effective flea control requires treatment of both the animal and its environment. Consult a veterinarian if the infestation continues.

Horses, Calves and Goats

For the control of susceptible lice and mites:

1. Sprinkle the powder lightly over the animal’s body.
2. Work the powder thoroughly into the coat so it reaches the skin.
3. Repeat at weekly intervals according to the product label.
4. Treat bedding and housing areas where appropriate.

Important Restraints

• Do not use on puppies or kittens under three months of age.
• Do not use on lactating goats where the milk or milk products may be used for human consumption.
• Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes, mouth and respiratory passages.
• Avoid inhaling the powder.
• Wash hands thoroughly after use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Use only on the animal species and parasites specified on the label.
• Consult a veterinarian if symptoms persist or the infestation is severe.
