Tick Season is Here Early!

What has possibly worked in the past may not work so effectively this season. We can see by the weather patterns and the early presentation of ticks that this season is going to be one of the worst we have had.

Owners need to super vigilent and take perhaps extra measures they have never had to do in the past to prevent their pet from becoming a fatal statistic this Spring & Summer.

For long coated dogs perhaps clipping them for comfort is an option and this will make identifying ticks easier. Also, don't be fooled that if you have never had a tick in your area before that you are immune. It can be as simple as taking your dog out to a dog park, a walk in the bush that can be the moment you need to be extra cautious.

There are many and varied products on the market for Dogs not for Cats. Most Tick products for cats have been removed from the market. This season you may require to use more than one product to give your pet effectiveness aginst preventing Tick Paralysis.

For eg: you may need to clip your dogs coat, use a preventative tick collar, as well as using a spot on treatment and do daily checks.

We have simplifed a few products that are targeting paralysis ticks. As recommended by the manufacturers these products are only as effective as owners administration and control. All these products are poisions and caution should be used at all times. If your pet is not responding well to any form of treatment it should be ceased and a veterinarian should be consulted for appropriate other treatments - DO NOT leave your pet unprotected.
