autumn - DOG - ARTHRITIS Added: 2011-04-20 18:56:26

Introducing a new product called Joint Master Plus. Until recently Cartilage was only available in powder form. Joint master Plus has been developed via a technique that hydrolyses (turning into liquid) cartilage using a complete natural process, much like a block of solid ice melts to water when its conditions are changed, unlocking its molecules.

Using a natural process, we unwind the proteins in cartilage leaving it in liquid form. No harsh chemicals or heat treatments are necessary. Of course the advantage of cartilage in liquid form is that it is 100% digestible and useable by the body (bioavailability), unlike powders where up to 50%, depending on the age of the sourced animal, may be indigestible and pass straight through the digestive system as waste.

This is because as cartilage ages it osteofies or becomes more bone like and the body can not break it down. Cartilage in liquid form is already pre-digested and ready for your pets body to use, with no waste.

Shark cartilage is manufactured from older sharks sometimes up to 30-40 years old which is not efficient nor eco-friendly for the environment as farming this way could not be sustainable due to the massive costs or it would produce an inferior product. Bovine cartilage in farmed in a more controlled sustainable manner using animal bi-products from 18 months of age. This is important because as cartilage ages it osteofies (becomes more bone like), this osteofied cartilage is indigestible and unusable. In powders the components of this osteofied cartilage such as Chondroitin Sulphate will show up in analysis but is unusable by the body.

(PETessentials does not agree or support animal testing which this is not) All product used in Joint Master Plus is a bi-product of the bovine after it has been farmed for consumption.

We at PETessentials look at both research and environmental impact elements of the sustainablilty with the ingredients used in products that we recommend in our exclusive range. We have done some inhouse research into how this product would best benefit the canine user as well as the sustainability factor on the environment for the source.

We would like to express our concerns about all methods in which humans derive remedies for ailments and prolonging discomforts at the cost of other factors. We believe that this method is one that is sustainable and more economical to produce with minimal environmental impact for its production for the end consumer.

All credible research and literature available relate to bovine cartilage as a derived source. Some of these studies date back over 40 years. High levels of Shark cartilage awareness is the result of intensive marketing rather than substancial research.

With Bovine cartilage you have no issues of heavy metal residues.  As sharks are at the end of the food chainand are such long lived animals they can accumulate quite high levels of heavy metals, while this is not a common problem it does exist but can be avoided using Bovine cartilage.

More importantly Shark number are being rapidly depleted and many species of Shark are  now on the endangered list, also Victoria has banned the bringing of Sharks over a certain size back to port (heavy metal concerns) this causes some supply problems in manufacturing. There would be no supply issues with Bovine due to its availability factor as a bi-product.

As discussed previously, as cartilage ages it osteofies (becomes more bone like), this osteofied cartilage is indigestible and unusable by the body. In powders the component of this osteofies cartilage can be up to 50% which means you are only receiving half of the value of your purchase.  plus you could be getting a far more supreme result for our canine companion if the repair levels were more highly absorbed like Joint Master Plus. This osteofied cartilage will show up in tests done in laboratories where they use harsh chemicals to break it down for testing. Unfortuately your pet's stomach can not break these down on there own. This problem doesn't arise with liquid cartilage as it has already been broken down for you to be readily absorbed with every molecule of product being available for the body to use.

Powders are often difficult to give to your pet. Included in drinking water, not all powders dissolve or its harder to make your pet drink all that is required to get the correct dose. It can be sifted out of food or just not eaten by fussy eaters. Joint Master Plus is easy to give mixes easily with food if required its only a small amount as it is concentrated and your pet will enjoy the taste. It can be given orally directly over the tongue for accurate dosing.

Liquid products are much easier to measure out so the risk of over or under dosing is substancially reduced.

We all want to do what is best for our pets and more importantly have access to products that work and provide the consumer (you) with an end result (improved mobility and joint function repair) which is visable in your pet.

At PETessentials we can't give a 100% guarantee that every product we recommend will be effective for every single pet, however, the products we have chosen in our exclusive range have specifically be qualified to be of independent high quality not because of marketing schemes or margin rates on profits. We want to offer our clients the very best that is available in the market and we want to aim at producing a great end result for both you and your pet's health.

summer - DOG/CAT - FLEAS Added: 2011-03-24 23:09:35

Fleas are small (1/16 to 1/8-inch (1.5 to 3.3 mm) long), agile, usually dark colored (for example, the reddish-brown of the cat flea), wingless insects with tube-like mouth-parts adapted to feeding on the blood of their hosts. Their legs are long, the hind pair well adapted for jumping: a flea can jump vertically up to 7 inches (18 cm) and horizontally up to 13 inches (33 cm).[3] This is around 200 times their own body length, making the flea one of the best jumpers of all known animals (relative to body size), second only to thefroghopper. According to an article in Science News [4], "researchers with the University of Cambridge in England have shown that fleas take off from their tibiae and tarsi — the insect equivalent of feet — and not their trochantera, or knees. The researchers report their conclusion in the March 1 Journal of Experimental Biology." It has been known that fleas do not use muscle power but energy stored in a protein named resilin but the researchers used high-speed video technology and mathematical models to discover where the spring action actually happens. Their bodies are laterally compressed (human anatomical terms), permitting easy movement through the hairs or feathers on the host's body (or in the case of humans, under clothing). The flea body is hard, polished, and covered with many hairs and short spines directed backward,[5] which also assist its movements on the host. The tough body is able to withstand great pressure, likely an adaptation to survive attempts to eliminate them by mashing or scratching. Even hard squeezing between the fingers is normally insufficient to kill a flea. It is possible to eliminate them by pressing individual fleas with adhesive tape or softened beeswax (or "cheese" wax) or by rolling a flea briskly between the fingers to disable it then crushing it between the fingernails. Fleas also can be drowned in water and may not survive direct contact with anti-flea pesticides.

autumn - DOG/CAT - FLAKEY SKIN Added: 2011-03-24 20:48:00

Usually in change of seasons especially when the weather becomes more volatile (hot and cold) the dogs coat can become dry and itchy. It can be thought to be flea related but in actual fact it can be brought on by your pet starting to shed and grow its new winter coat. Treatments can range from diet, soap free shampoo, topical treatments and veterinary assistance in chronic cases.

autumn - HORSE - QLD ITCH Added: 2011-03-24 20:23:54

During dawn and dusk small midge (sandfly) like insects are actively feeding and it is usually during this time that horses susceptible to attack are affected. They create an extremely itchy reaction and cause the horse to self mutilate scratching and rubbing until the horse has removed fur and skin and it is to the point of bleeding leaving the area inflamed and raw demanding attention and appropriate treatment.
